Colour theory – CHRIS

The colour theory is a body of practical guidance to colour mixing and the visual effect of a  specific colour combination. The colours are separated into sections which are commonly set out in a wheel (circle). The categories in the colour wheels are primary, secondary and tertiary.

Primary colours

Primary colours are colours that cannot be made by mixing any other colours. These colours are also commonly known as pure colours. There are three primary colours all together; Blue, red and yellow.

Secondary colours

Secondary colours are colours made using the primary colours only.

Yellow + blue = green

Blue + red = purple

red + yellow = orange

Tertiary colours

Tertiary colours are colours  produced by an equal mixture of a primary colours with a secondary. There are six tertiary colors; red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet.
